Jaws – Various Theaters


Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the Waterfront, here comes a Classic Movie Nights screening of Jaws. AMC Loews 22 will screen Steven Spielberg‘s iconic 1975 summer blockbuster that pits a small-town police chief (Roy Scheider), a marine biologist (Richard Dreyfuss), and a salty boat captain (Robert Shaw) against a man-eating shark off the coast of Amity Island.  The film will begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5, $10.50 for VIP Seating.

Jaws will also screen from July 1st through July 2nd at the Oaks Theater and from July 1st through July 7th at the Hollywood Theater.

July 1st 

Alice Walker: Beauty In Truth – City of Asylum


Reel Q and City of Asylum will present a screening of Alice Walker: Beauty In Truth, a feature documentary about an extraordinary woman’s journey from her birth in a paper-thin shack in cotton fields of Putnam County, Georgia to her recognition as a key writer of the 20th century. The event will take place at the Alphabet City Tent at 8 p.m. Admission is free and registration is required.

Fantastical Adventures – Row House Cinema


Row House Cinema will present a week of beloved magical films for Fantastical Adventures. The selections include the 1982 Jim Henson production The Dark Crystal, the epic 1984 fairytale The Neverending Story, the 1985 Ridley Scott fantasy Legend, and the 2010 Studio Ghibli adaptation The Secret World Of Arrietty. Showtimes will continue through July 7th.

Fursonas – Harris Theater


Harris Theater will screen the locally-produced documentary Fursonas. Directed by Point Park University alum Dominic Rodriguez (read our interview with him), the film explores the often misunderstood world of furries, a group broadly characterized by its love of anthropomorphic animals. Showtimes will continue through July 7th.

July 2nd

The Rocky Horror Picture Show – Hollywood Theater


The Junior Chamber of Commerce Players return for another Rocky Horror Picture Show midnight shadowcast screening at the Hollywood Theater. The show begins at 11:45 p.m. Tickets cost between $5 to $8 and are available for purchase at Showclix.
