On June 14th, the Oaks Theater will celebrate the US Open with a double feature dedicated to the sport of golf. See featured films and descriptions below:
The raunchy directorial debut from the late Harold Ramis hits the links with a teen caddy (Michael O’Keefe), a wisecracking golf whiz (Chevy Chase), an obnoxious millionaire (Rodney Dangerfield) and a kooky groundskeeper (Bill Murray) as they turn a snooty country club upside down with their antics.
The Legend of Bagger Vance (2000)
Director Robert Redford‘s Depression-era fantasy drama depicts a disillusioned war veteran (Matt Damon) who reluctantly agrees to play a game of golf. He finds the game futile until his sage caddy, Bagger Vance (Will Smith), teaches him the secret of the authentic golf stroke which turns out also to be the secret to mastering any challenge and finding meaning in life. Adapated from the book by Steven Pressfield.
Drink specials for the golf double feature begin at 6 p.m. The Legend of Bagger Vance will play at 7 p.m. followed by Caddyshack at 9:15 p.m. Tickets cost $7.
