Who better encapsulates the spirit of Halloween than Edgar Allen Poe, the 19th-century author and poet whose obsession with madness and the macabre continues to haunt readers to this day? This month, Row House Cinema will pay tribute to Poe’s legacy with the Pittsburgh premiere of Extraordinary Tales, a film depicting some of his greatest works.
Written and directed by Disney animator Raul Garcia, and produced by GKIDS, the feature anthology covers five Poe stories, including The Tell-Tale Heart, The Pit and the Pendulum, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Masque of Red Death, and The Facts in the Case of Mr. Valdemar. Using stylish 2D and 3D animated segments, and a stellar voice cast that includes Christopher Lee, Roger Corman, Guillermo Del Toro, and Bela Lugosi, the compilation delves into the tortured imagination of one of history’s most notable horror writers.
Extraordinary Tales opens on October 24th. Tickets and showtimes are available on the Row House Cinema website.
