Recently, the Hollywood Theater exceeded its fundraising goal for Go Digital or Go Dark, a campaign meant to update the non-profit with a digital projection system. On Oct. 5th, the theater will celebrate the new addition with its Go Digital Party and screening of its first official digital film.
The Go Digital Party will feature tours of the projection booth, free popcorn and soda, and a selection of short films. The event will also include a screening of the release Two Faces of January.
Screenwriter Hossein Amini (The Wings of the Dove, Drive) makes his directing debut with this period thriller adapted from Patricia Highsmith’s novel. Set in 1962, intrigue begins at the Parthenon when wealthy American tourists Chester MacFarland (Viggo Mortensen) and his young wife Collete (Kirsten Dunst) meet American expat Rydal (Oscar Isaac), a scammer working as a tour guide. Instead of becoming his latest marks, the two befriend him, but a murder at the couple’s hotel puts all three on the run together and creates a precarious bond between them as the trio’s allegiance is put to the test.
Doors open at 6 p.m. followed by the screening at 7:30 p.m. The event is free for Go Digital or Go Dark Kickstarter contributors. Tickets are $10 and are available for purchase at Showclix. Two Faces of January will also screen on Oct. 3rd and 4th, Oct. 6th, Oct. 8th and 9th, and Oct. 11th.
