In 1991, the Coen Brothers created one of cinema’s most iconic characters with their tribute to Raymond Chandler crime capers, The Big Lebowski. On April 27th, Arsenal Lanes will honor the film with Our Troubles Are Over Dude, a night of live music, beer, bowling, and film.
Co-presented by DJ Zombo and PGH ABIDES, and sponsored by Lagunitas Brewing Company, the cult comedy hit follows Los Angeleno Jeff “The Dude” Lebowski (Jeff Bridges), an unemployed burnout who spends his days drinking White Russians and bowling with his buddies Walter (John Goodman) and Donny (Steve Buscemi). His laid-back lifestyle becomes complicated when he’s mistaken for a millionaire with a troublesome trophy wife. When his rich counterpart offers him a one-time job with a big pay-off, The Dude soon becomes drawn into bizarre world of porn tycoons, dim-witted nihilists, and an erotic artist named Maude (Julianne Moore). Also stars John Turturro, Tara Reid, Peter Stormare, and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Our Troubles Are Over Dude begins at 9 p.m. and runs until 12:30 a.m. The Big Lebowski will play on the lanes and in the bar. The event includes a performance by the local band The Harlan Twins, a DJ set, trivia, and costume contests. Cover is $5, plus an additional $5 to bowl.
