Last year, Horror Realm and the Hollywood Theater presented GRRRINDHAHS!!! Pittsburgh’s Exploitation Celebration, an epic tribute to international grindhouse and drive-in fare. On Feb. 15th, the event returns to showcase another day-long program of offbeat retro films from around the world.
Over the course of 14 hours, GRRRINDHAHS 2 will offer nine movies from the 1960s and 1970s. Among the selections are classic films from the US, Taiwan, Italy and Japan. The film schedule is as follows:
10:45 a.m. – Tough Guys – Isaac Hayes‘ screen debut, with Fred Williamson (1974, USA)
12:15 p.m. – The Savage Seven – bikers vs. Indians vs. The Man (1968, USA)
1:50 p.m. – Master of the Flying Guillotine – zany wuxia masterpiece (1976, Taiwan)
3:30 p.m. – Gator Bait – hicksploitation with Playboy Playmate Claudia Jennings (1974, USA)
5 p.m. – Doberman Cop – from the manga by Buronson, with Sonny Chiba (1977, Japan)
6:30 p.m. – The Mercenary – Sergio Corbucci spaghetti western (1968, Italy)
8:30 p.m. – Grizzly – 1970s nature-run-amoksploitation at its finest (1976, USA)
10 p.m. – Lady Snowblood – the inspiration for Kill Bill‘s O-Ren Ishii (1973, Japan)
11:40 p.m. – Almost Human – brutal Italian crime thriller with Tomás Milián (1974, Italy)
Doors open at 10:30 a.m. at the Hollywood Theater. Tickets are available at the door. Admission is $15 for an all-day pass, or $5 for a single movie. The first 50 attendees who purchase an all-day pass will receive a compilation CD featuring music from the films on the program.
