CORE Advocates Organ Donation With A Pledge For Life Film Festival

The nonprofit group Center for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE) promotes donation, education and research for the purpose of saving and improving the quality of life through organ, tissue and corneal transplantation. As part of their mission, the organization will present the A Pledge for Life Film Festival, an event developed to help raise awareness about the importance of organ donation and to challenge aspiring young filmmakers. On June 27th, the chosen submissions will screen at CORE’s Pittsburgh offices.

Film students throughout PA and WV were invited to submit short films of five minutes or less that would entertain, enlighten and inspire viewers to want to make the Pledge for Life by becoming registered organ donors. The entries will be judged by CORE President and CEO Susan StuartPittsburgh Filmmakers Associate Professor Will Zavala, and Steeltown Film Factory Producer Lisa Smith-Reed. The best films will receive cash prizes ranging from $300 t0 $1,000, and includes an Audience Award of $200.

A Pledge for Life Film Festival begins at 6 p.m. and runs until 8 p.m. Those interested in attending should RSVP by June 24th at 1-800-366-6777.
