Since opening in 2009, Wildcard has focused on selling items from local artists and crafters. Located in the heart of Lawrenceville, the gift shop carries a unique variety of cards, stationary, accessories, buttons, t-shirts, and craft supplies. Besides providing a connection between enterprising creatives and customers, the establishment is also a gallery space – on June 6th, Wildcard debuts its newest group show, Craft Hard: Art Inspired by Action Movies.
The offbeat exhibit will feature work from Pittsburgh-based artists Andrew O. Ellis, Tara Goe, Elliot McNally, and Mario Zucca. Using mediums such as needlepoint, illustration, and quilting, their original pieces bring to life the mean visages of stars like Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Clint Eastwood in scenes from their most iconic films. All pieces will be available for sale, along with prints from several of the artists, so for those of you looking for a one-of-a-kind gift to give your movie buff dad this Father’s Day, look no further.
Craft Hard‘s opening night goes from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Guests can enjoy free snacks and drinks, as well as action movie-inspired music. The exhibition will run until July 22nd.
