Pittsburgh Filmmakers Create Weird Science In ‘Meet Your Maker’

You’re travelling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind; a journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That’s the signpost up ahead – your next stop… The Twilight Zone? Not quite.

A new Pittsburgh-based project needs funding to revisit the magic of programs such as the original Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits. Filmmakers Justin and Pat Francart are looking for backers to support Meet Your Maker, a short film about science, but told with “one foot planted firmly in the realm of the fantastic.” Inspired by retro sci-fi/fantasy TV, it follows a scientist taken to task by the sole survivors of a universe he unwittingly created. For more details, check out the fascinating teaser trailer on the film’s Kickstarter page.

Production challenges include building computers, microscopes, and hadron colliders, as well as securing the tools and resources needed to shoot on black and white 16mm film. Please donate and help the Francart’s make their film a reality – or, should I say, a surreality?
