Each year, the non-profit membership organization Women in Film and Media (WIFM) attracts women filmmakers from around the world to compete for the privilege of having their films shown at the International Short Film Showcase in March. On Jan. 30th at the Hollywood Theater , women from the WIFM Pittsburgh chapter will present a program of short films where only one will be chosen to represent the city at the big international event.
All films are less than 45 minutes in length and were made with women occupying the roles of directors, producers, actors, writers, DPs, and animators and/or editors. Teams were encouraged to submit works featuring strong female characters and stories about women. The final films that were considered during the review process will be screened along with the recently completed PSA and Behind the Scenes for Hair Peace Charities.
Doors open at 6 p.m., showtime starts at 6:45 p.m. Admission is $8 if you sign up online by Jan. 28th, or $10 at the door.
