Schedule For 48 Hour Film Project Premiere

The 48 Hour Film Project premiere is right around the corner, and the details so far promise a wide range of work produced by local filmmakers of all ages and experience. This is the sixth year the competition has come to Pittsburgh, and the 35 teams that participated this time took on the challenge of writing, shooting and editing their original short films within the span of two days. This weekend, they finally debut their finished products between July 28th and July 29th at the Hollywood Theater.

According to an article by Pop City Media, the event promises to showcase a variety of films, including one starring WQED documentary filmmaker and all-around local treasure, Rick Sebak (pictured above), and another featuring Pittsburgh actor David Fielding (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers). To get an idea of what to expect, one team known as Countdown Productions created a short trailer for their entry, This Is How We Do Romance. See below:

Screenings will commence at either 1 p.m. or 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The selections will then be awarded prizes based on the decisions of the panel of celebrity judges. This year’s panel includes artist, activist, entrepreneur, and Pittsburgh native Lamman Rucker (Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns), WQED senior producer Minette Seate, and On Beat Productions owner Nicholas Danko.
